Technical selection guide

How to select ingredient formats for sports and active nutrition

This collection groups immediate-release, sustained-release, taste-managed and cold-water-dispersible formats. The positioning is technical and formulation-related; it does not imply a consumer-performance or health claim.

Which dosage-form requirement should be defined first?

Define the dosage form, target release profile, sensory requirement, dispersion conditions and processing constraints before selecting an ingredient format.

Capsules, sachets, tablets and drink powders place different demands on particle size, blend compatibility, release behaviour and water dispersion.

How should immediate and sustained formats be compared?

Compare active loading, release specification, particle-size range and the dissolution or performance evidence supporting the intended profile.

Immediate-release and sustained-release products are not interchangeable. Mixed pellet populations also require assessment of blend uniformity and segregation risk.

What evidence should support product development?

Use the current specification, batch CoA and relevant release, dispersion, sensory or stability documentation.

Finished-product testing remains necessary to confirm processing compatibility, uniformity, stability and regulatory suitability in the target market.

Discuss your formulation requirement

Tell us the active, dosage form, target market, processing conditions, target release or protection profile and expected volume. We can help identify suitable evaluation materials and confirm the available technical documents.
