Vezicle™ Liposomal Delivery

Vezicle™ includes phospholipid-based ingredients for professional formulation work involving wetting, dispersion and content uniformity. These are formulation objectives; suitability must be assessed for the individual ingredient and application. We make no absorption or bioavailability claim.

The terminology problem, stated plainly

Phospholipid content alone does not establish a liposomal vesicle structure. When evaluating an ingredient for a finished product, request evidence that supports the terminology and intended claims.

Assessment of a liposomal system requires evidence of phospholipid vesicles and of the relationship between the active and the vesicle structure. Phospholipid content alone does not establish either property.

Request the current product-specific characterisation report when evaluating an ingredient. Evidence for Vitamin K2, Vitamin D3, curcumin, glutathione, vitamin C or coenzyme Q10 must not be assumed to apply to Ferric Pyrophosphate.

How to assess the evidence

The methods below describe an assessment framework, not a statement that every test has been completed for every ingredient. Refer to the product-specific report for the method, conditions and results.

Question Method What it establishes
Do bilayer vesicles exist? Cryo-TEM or freeze-fracture electron microscopy Direct evidence of vesicle morphology under the stated sample-preparation conditions.
What size, and how uniform? Dynamic light scattering (DLS) — hydrodynamic diameter and polydispersity index Hydrodynamic size distribution and polydispersity under the stated reconstitution conditions.
How much active is actually associated? Encapsulation efficiency — separation of free from associated active, then assay of both fractions The fraction of active associated with the delivery system under a validated separation and assay method.
Associated how? Combination of the above with the separation method used The relationship between active and vesicle structure; distinguish core encapsulation, bilayer incorporation and surface association.
Does it survive drying and storage? Reconstitution followed by repeat DLS and encapsulation efficiency Whether relevant structural and association characteristics are retained after reconstitution and during the tested storage period.

For a dry powder, assess the reconstituted ingredient under a defined protocol. Evidence from a wet manufacturing stage alone does not establish the structure or performance after drying and storage.

Quality control parameters

Parameter Why it is specified
Active assay Label claim and dose calculation
Phospholipid content and source Determines the delivery system and the allergen position (soy or sunflower lecithin)
Free versus associated active The parameter that distinguishes this platform from a physical mixture
Moisture Phospholipid systems are moisture-sensitive; this drives shelf life
Particle size distribution Powder handling and blend uniformity
Peroxide value Phospholipids oxidise; this is an early indicator
Dispersion behaviour The functional outcome the platform exists to deliver

Current maturity

Qualification status, availability and documentation are assessed per ingredient and batch. Request the current specification, relevant characterisation report and documentation for the intended application. For Ferric Pyrophosphate, confirm the specification and supporting characterisation before relying on structural or performance claims.
